PlayStation Vita Remote Play is a feature that allows this console to connect or interact with PlayStation 3 using PlayStation 3 Xross Media Bar. With this feature, user can easily access files, music, video, photo, PlayStation games, PlayStation Store, and any applications that stored in their PlayStation 3’s HDD or any external flash drive or optical media that plugged in into the PlayStation 3. This feature surely is very convenient for gamers that want to access their files in PlayStation 3 comfortably.

The concept of PlayStation Vita Remote Play is to deliver files on PlayStation 3 through a wireless connection to PlayStation Vita or PlayStation Portable, which this feature is also available. Any task that is done in the PlayStation Vita will be then also same in the PlayStation 3. In short, it is like the concept of remote desktop Windows or Linux based computer. But the concept of Remote Play in PlayStation 3 is simply better as the concept of remote desktop computer as the user can make their PlayStation Vita as a portable media player without having the music or video files stored in PlayStation Vita, but it is streamed via wireless from PlayStation 3 HDD instead. That surely is a neat function.

Although Sony is already release this Remote Play feature for quite some time, there are still some incompatibility for some application, software, and even games. At the beginning, Sony even only announced two titles that would work with the Remote Play between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, which are Formula One Championship Edition and Gran Turismo HD. On this game, the PlayStation Portable was acting as a rear view to assist player in the game. Unfortunately, there are also some problems regarding this Remote Play even between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, leave alone PlayStation Vita Remote Play feature. Some of the known problem is lack of the analog stick and L2 and R2 button on PlayStation Portable that prevent PlayStation 3 games that requiring those button to play is definitely can’t be played via Remote Play.

Up until now, there are only a few list of games that compatible with Remote Play between PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, including Aqua Vita/Aquatopia, Anarchy: Rush Hour, Battlefield 3, Bejeweled 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, FirstPlay, Gundemonium Recollection, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition, Imabikisou, Lair, LEGO Batman, Mainichi Issho, Misato Katsuragi's Reporting Plan, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, Peggle, PixelJunk Series, SingStar series, Weekly Toro Station, Zuma, many PlayStation 1 games. As for PlayStation Vita Remote Play compatible games, Sony actually already claim that almost all PlayStation 3 games will be compatible with Remote Play of PlayStation Vita. However, that claimed seems proved to be not correct as there is only a few games that compatible with Remote Play on PlayStation Vita.

Based on some PS Vita forums that already held a little trial and error on various titles of PlayStation 3 Games to be played through Remote Play on PlayStation Vita, there are only 12 games that fully compatible out of 312 games that already tested. Those 12 games are including Anarchy: Rush Hour, Bejeweled 2, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, GundeadliGne, Gundemonium Recollection, High Stakes Poker on the Vegas Strip, Hitogata Happa, Lair, Peggle, Pixel Junk Monsters, Pixel Junk Shooters, and Sim City 2000. Seeing this report, it seems that Sony still need to work on their PlayStation Vita Remote Play further.
