International Development Secretary Justine Greening said the UK will further change the relationship with India by increasing bilateral trade.
"After my visit to India, witnessed the progress made there. India is a developing country works and our bilateral relationship with India should be adjusted to the 21st century," Greening said in a statement on Friday (09/11).
"It's time to recognize the shift in the position India in the world," he added.
The rapid growth
India raises issue of aid to the conflicting opinions in the UK because of the growing Indian economy.
The BBC's Mark Doyle international development affairs reported that over the years the opponents of international relief underlines just how strange a small country like the UK give aid to the country with rapid economic growth, such as India.
In fact, says Mark Doyle, although India has a space program and its economy is growing rapidly, many of India's population still lives below the poverty line.
Cutting off aid to India is expected to save approximately U.S. $ 250 million. That number is only a fraction of the total foreign aid budget of approximately U.S. $ 10 billion.
But cutting off aid to India could mean the British government, in the midst of economic hardship, the notion that the budget aid to other countries should be controlled, according to Mark Doyle.
